A Good Night’s Sleep

Sleep young one... sleep.

A friend of mine and I recently met for drinks the other night.  She’s been having trouble sleeping and we had a hours long conversation about the possible reasons for her apparent affliction and also the damage lack of sleep is doing to her psyche and body.  It all got me thinking on just how important sleep is and what makes it so good.  (Note, this article is not for the 3-4 hour a night shut my eyes only for a moment before I pick up and go ape-shit set).

Sometimes, I like to exhaust myself; to get myself to that point where I cannot stand or function and I’m barely able to keep my eyes open just so I can fall into that special kind of sleep, that catatonic bliss where I literally move into another world.  It gives me goose bumps just thinking about it.

I love the feel of the cold sheets when I first get into bed and how they slowly heat up and how it feels to roll onto a virgin patch of linen that’s cold, repeating as necessary.

I love it when it rains and I don’t have to work the next day and when I get up the world is dark, clean, refreshed, and wet.  Cities always seem more fascinating when it rains.  In that way, rain is like leather… I feel like interesting people wear leather.  Actually, interesting people and freaks; leather is a polarized material… it will either make you much cooler or much lamer depending on the placement, design, and how crazy you went with the Bedazzler and airbrush you got from Cousin Jeb.

The best sleep for me comes when the room is pitch, I mean heart of darkness, dark and there’s a soft “white noise” like a fan or AC in the background and no other noise around.  Yeah, that’s the stuff… that’s the good stuff.

I had a good night’s sleep last night…
